Taxi is a 1998 French action comedy film starring Samy Naceri, Frédéric Diefenthal and Marion Cotillard, written by Luc Besson and directed by Gérard Pirès. It is the first installment in the Taxi film series. It has four sequels, Taxi 2, Taxi 3, Taxi 4 and Taxi 5 and one English-language remake, Taxi (2004).

Gérard Pirès (París, 31 d'agost de 1942) és un director de cinema francès. Biografia. Va debutar al cinema com a ajudant del director Michel Deville a la pel·lícula Martin soldat (1966). Va dirigir el seu primer llargmetratge el 1969, Erotissimo, amb Annie Girardot.
It is the second installment in the Taxi film series. It is a sequel to Taxi, written by Luc Besson and directed by Gérard Pirès in 1999. It was followed by Taxi 3 in January 2003. A video game adaptation was released on the Game Boy Color by Ubisoft, also in 2000.
