John Pielmeier (born February 23, 1949) is an American playwright, screenwriter and novelist.
Agnes of God is a 1979 play by American playwright John Pielmeier which tells the story of a novice nun who gives birth but does not believe she has. The child is found dead and a psychiatrist and the mother superior of the convent clash during the resulting investigation.

JOHN PIELMEIER is an actor and writer who began his career with the internationally acclaimed play and movie Agnes of God. Since then he has had three more plays mounted on Broadway and over twenty-five film, television movies and miniseries produced.
John Pielmeier was born on 23 February 1949 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, USA. He is a writer and actor, known for The Pillars of the Earth (2010), Living with the Dead (2002) and Agnes of God (1985).
John Pielmeier was born and raised in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and earned his master's degree from The Pennsylvania State University in 1978. Pielmeier has written many award-winning plays and screenplays, including Agnes of God (1982), Courage (1983), a stage-adaptation of William Peter Blatty's The Exorcist (2012), and countless others.
