Kathleen Shackleton MBE (5 February 1884 – 10 July 1961) was an Irish portrait painter and journalist. Biography. Kathleen Shackleton was born in Dublin on 5 February 1884. Her family moved to Sydenham, London shortly after she was born. Shackleton was educated in Sydenham Girls’ High School.

Kathleen Shackleton was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1884. She was the sister of noted Antarctic explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton. She emigrated to Canada in 1912, and lived in Montreal until returning to England in 1916.
Kathleen Shackleton, the sister of explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton, lived much of her adult life in Canada. Previous to the First World War, she was a reporter for the Montreal Star, although she is best known for her work as an artist.

15 January 2016, 07:27. Later in life Kathleen Shackleton lived with one of her sisters (Gladys I think) in a little Georgian terrace house in Westgate, Chichester, West Sussex. Kathleen dealt in antiques, curios etc., trading in The Crypt of Chichester Cathedral, entrance to which is down a flight of stone steps from South Street.
