Musicland Studios was a recording studio located in Munich, Germany established by Italian record producer, songwriter and musician Giorgio Moroder in the early 1970s. [1] The studios were known for their work with artists such as Donna Summer, Electric Light Orchestra, and Queen, among others.

Following the conclusion of the European leg of the Eldorado tour, the band began recording the new album at Musicland Studios in Munich, Germany. ELO had frequently opened for Deep Purple on the initial North American leg of the Eldorado tour, and Deep Purple had recommended Musicland to ELO.
