The Nightingale-Bamford School is an independent all-female university-preparatory school founded in 1920 by Frances Nicolau Nightingale and Maya Stevens Bamford. Located in Manhattan on the Upper East Side, Nightingale-Bamford is a member of the New York Interschool consortium.

On July 1, 2012, Paul A. Burke became the seventh head of school at Nightingale, after a four-year tenure as head of the Upper School. Having led the Upper School, Paul had come to appreciate the School’s unique identity. He believes in the importance of an environment in which girls are “not only included but celebrated and embraced.”
