The Batman director Matt Reeves has confirmed via Twitter that Colin Farrell has been cast as Penguin, a character he curiously refers to as "Oz" rather than Penguin or Oswald Cobblepot.

It was first reported in the middle of May 2019 that Robert Pattinson would be Batman. In the beginning of June, it was officially confirmed that the Twilight and The Lighthouse actor was our new Dark Knight.
"[Batman's] morality is a little bit off. He’s not the golden boy, unlike almost every other comic-book character," Pattinson said in October. "There is a simplicity to his worldview, but where it sits is strange, which allows you to have more scope with the character."
It was first reported in September that Jeffrey Wright (Westworld, Angels in America, Casino Royale) would be playing Commissioner Gordon and Jonah Hill was up for the role of Riddler. While talks between Hill and the producers wound up going nowhere, Wright was later confirmed by Reeves on Twitter.
Zoe Kravitz was cast as Catwoman in October. The Mad Max: Fury Road and X-Men: First Class actress supposedly beat out Ana de Armas, Ella Balinska and Eiza Gonzalez for the role.
This will be Kravitz's second time playing Catwoman on the big screen... her first time was playing her in The LEGO Batman Movie.
After the Jonah Hill talks didn't pan out, it was soon reported that Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood, Prisoners) was cast in the role as the Riddler.
Josh Gad tried to get himself cast in the role of the Penguin, but it sounds like Colin Farrell (Total Recall, In Bruges) has now been confirmed by director Matt Reeves. The Penguin was last played on the big screen by Danny DeVito in Batman Returns, and in fact Farrell almost played Batman back in the day in the never-produced Batman vs. Superman ...
Andy Serkis was first rumored to be up for a non-CGI role in the movie in June. In early November word followed that the actor was in early talks for the role of Alfred, Bruce Wayne's faithful butler. Reeves later confirmed the casting on Twitter. It was reported in November that newcomer Jayme Lawson, who just recently graduated from The Juilliard School, has been cast in a sizable role. She is apparently playing Bella, "a grassroots political candidate running for office in Gotham." Matt Reeves announced John Turturro's casting towards the end of November. The Transformers and Big Lebowski actor will play Carmine Falcone, a mob boss in Gotham City and another enemy for Batman.
Reeves took to Twitter on December 6 to announce that Peter Sarsgaard has been cast in The Batman. While there's no confirmation on who he's playing, social media users in the post's comments section as well as publications like The Hollywood Reporter are speculating that he's playing Harvey Dent a.k.a. Two-Face. The gif that Reeves used on Twitter -- from the 2015 movie Experimenter -- has two faces in it. Not to mention that Sargaard's wife, The Dark Knight actress Maggie Gyllenhaal, posted a picture on Instagram of her husband with the caption "Half way through a shave...". The image was posted the day before Reeves' announcement and used to have comments about how the couple is cute. Now, the comments on that post have become flooded with Harvey Dent speculation.
Don't get too excited though. THR says that the character could also be a corrupt police officer named Wasserman.
