Blindsight is the ability of people who are cortically blind to respond to visual stimuli that they do not consciously see due to lesions in the primary visual cortex, also known as the striate cortex or Brodmann Area 17. 2 lug 2020 · Blindsight results from damage to an area of the brain called the primary visual cortex. This is one of the areas, as you might have guessed, responsible for vision.
Blindsight is the residual processing of visual stimuli in areas of the field where the subject denies being aware of those stimuli. The neurobiological processes underlying blindsight are covered elsewhere in this series ( Chapters 7 and 16 ).
