Gummo died on April 21, 1977, at his home in Palm Springs, California, aged 84, from a cerebral hemorrhage. His death was never reported to Groucho, who by that time had become so ill and weak that it was thought the news would be a further detriment to his health.

While many could probably name the fourth Marx Brother, Zeppo, few know there was a fifth, who regularly performed with them on stage, though not in films.
29 giu 2021 · Per the first chapter, excerpted in The New York Times, there is a death certificate for Manfred Marx, the firstborn child of Samuel and Minnie Marx, who died on July 17, 1886 at just six seven months old (accounts vary) of "entero-colitis, with asthenia contributing, i.e., probably what we know as the flu.

26 gen 2023 · Surviving for only seven months, Manfred died on July 17, 1886. Although it was long assumed that the firstborn Marx brother passed of tuberculosis, asthenia and entero-colitis, complications which probably arose from influenza, are cited as the actual causes of death.
Influence on modern entertainment. On January 16, 1977, the Marx Brothers were inducted into the Motion Picture Hall of Fame. With the deaths of Gummo in April 1977, Groucho in August 1977, and Zeppo in November 1979, the brothers were gone.
