20 apr 2014 · In my opinion, the preposition "in" is used with"The Great Smoky Mountains" because here we are talking about a "mountain range". On the other hand, "on" is necessary when referring to just one mountain (as in my last example in post #1).
25 ott 2009 · The short answer is that we don't. "Mountains," is a collection of individual mountains, or "mountain range, " e.g. the Pyrenees, and "in" in your example is synonymous with "among." The only way you can walk in a mountain is if you're in a large cave or cavern. K.
