Tuomas Lauri Johannes Holopainen è un tastierista, pianista e compositore finlandese. È membro fondatore, autore di testi e musiche del gruppo musicale Nightwish. In ambito metal è anche tastierista del gruppo rock gotico For My Pain..., del gruppo folk Auri e del gruppo heavy metal Kotiteollisuus.
Tuomas Lauri Johannes Holopainen (born 25 December 1976) is a Finnish musician, songwriter, and record producer, best known as the primary songwriter, keyboardist, and a co-founding member of symphonic metal band Nightwish. He has stated that his songwriting is influenced by harmonic film music.
Tuomas Holopainen has an idea of a solo project that would play atmospheric “mood music.” The idea quickly crystallises: the sound would include acoustic guitars, flutes, strings, piano – and female vocals. Guitarist Erno “Emppu” Vuorinen and vocalist Tarja Turunen soon join the project.

Full name: Tuomas Lauri Johannes Holopainen. Birth: 25th December 1976. Place of birth: Kitee, Finland. Century Child. Childhood, family and school. Tuomas is the youngest of the Holopainen siblings, his father Pentti recalls that Tuomas was born with a “lucky cap” on Christmas’ day 1976.
