    The Shrek movie universe is a fantastical and comedic world filled with fairy tale characters and charmingly quirky inhabitants. It centers around the lovable ogre Shrek, his feisty princess-turned-ogre-wife Fiona, and their loyal friends Donkey and Puss in Boots–a character which has earned their own series of films within this universe. The franchise combines humor, adventure, and heartwarming messages, exploring themes of acceptance, self-discovery, and the power of true love. With its memorable characters, witty dialogue, and clever adaptations of fairy tale tropes, Shrek series is full of animated classics beloved by audiences of all ages.

    With the promise of a Shrek revival, some fans may come to find that there is an addition to the Shrekverse that they haven’t seen yet. Considering that there are now 4 Shrek movies and 2 Puss in Boots spinoff movies, it can be easy to fall behind. Due to their different ranges of success, each movie is available on different platforms. The first two movies are available free to stream with a subscription on Hulu and Peacock. You can also now stream the latest film Puss in Boots: The Last Wish on Netflix and the first Puss in Boots movie is now on Prime Video. All of the movies are available to rent or buy digitally on various platforms, with Shrek the Third being the only title not on a streaming service.
