Sant Martí Vell is a village in the province of Girona and autonomous community of Catalonia, Spain. The municipality covers an area of 17.48 square kilometres (6.75 sq mi) and the population in 2014 was 242.
Sant Martí Vell is located on the north of the Gavarres massif. This little charming village has about 250 inhabitants and an area of 17,5 km². Its stone streets are full of history and it offer to Sant Martí Vell a unique personality.

Sant Marti Vell is a municipality located in northern Gavarres massif, within the region of Girona. In his term cross two streams: the Rissec, Daró tributary, and the Sant Martí, who later mixed with the waters of the Ter.
Història. [modifica] Està documentat el 1035 com Sancti Martini qui dicunt Vetulo, «Sant Martí que anomenem Vell» probablement en referència a la vella capella de l'antic castell. [ 1 ] En els fogatges apareix com Sant Martí Vell, de la vegueria de Girona. [ 2 ] De 1879 a 1930 va restar unit al municipi de Madremanya. [ 3 ]
