Sir Laurence Stanley Charles Bristow KCMG (born 23 November 1963) is a British diplomat who served as British Ambassador to Afghanistan between June and November 2021, notably during the fall of Kabul.
He is the tenth President of Hughes Hall, and the sixteenth head of the College since its foundation in 1885. Before coming to Hughes Hall, Laurie was a British diplomat. He joined the United Kingdom diplomatic service in 1990, as the Cold War ended and change swept across Europe.

Sir Laurie Bristow will become the tenth President of Hughes Hall (and sixteenth head of the College since its foundation in 1885) when he succeeds Dr Anthony Freeling whose 8-year term concludes this year. Sir Laurie will take up post in October 2022.
