In 1920s Hollywood, writer Harry Vincent (Michael Therriault) is engaged by movie mogul Damon Ira Chance (Bob Hoskins) to track down Shorty McAdoo, an old-time Western actor (Nicholas Campbell) whose story will be the basis of the producer’s new film.
The Englishman's Boy plot. The miniseries contains two storylines. In one it is 1920 and young screenwriter Harry Vincent is heading to Hollywood. Well-known studio boss Damon Ira Chance hires him and orders him to visit longtime western actor Shorty McAdoo. He is a guarantee of success.
