Plot. Mathias/'Jim', a down-and-out New Yorker, travels to Paris planning to sell the large, valuable apartment in a coveted area he has inherited from his estranged father. Once there, he discovers an old woman, Mathilde, living in the apartment with her daughter Chloé.

Cynical, and at the end of his tether, he looks forward to selling the mansion house his late father owned in the Marais district.
