Significant trauma usually results in need for blood transfusion, surgical management, involves multiple body systems/areas.

Major trauma is any injury that has the potential to cause long-term disability or death. There are many causes of major trauma, including road traffic accidents, falls, stabbing and gunshot wounds. Injuries are severe and complex, often with multiple fractures, nerve and soft tissue damage and sometimes traumatic limb loss.
