Edna Fischel Gellhorn was a Missouri suffragist, reformer and philanthropist. Born in St. Louis in 1878, Gellhorn became involved in the Missouri suffrage campaign in 1910, serving in the St. Louis and Missouri Equal Suffrage Leagues and helping to organize suffrage demonstrations.
Edna Fischel Gellhorn (Mrs. George), a St. Louis civic worker, was director of the National American Woman Suffrage Association, president of the St. Louis and Missouri League of Women Voters, and vice-president of the national League of Women Voters.

In 1901 Edna Fischel Gellhorn became a founding member of the College Club of St. Louis and the Clubs first President. From clean water to women's suffrage, from safe milk to the United Nations, from slum clearance to Civil Rights, Edna Gellhorn worked for the betterment of humankind.
Gellhorn was born on 8 November 1908, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Edna Fischel Gellhorn, a suffragist, and George Gellhorn, a German-born gynecologist. Her father and maternal grandfather were Jewish, and her maternal grandmother came from a Protestant family.
