Pepin, or Pippin the Hunchback (French: Pépin le Bossu, German: Pippin der Buckelige; c. 768/769 – 811) was a Frankish prince. He was the eldest son of Charlemagne and noblewoman Himiltrude. He developed a humped back after birth, leading early medieval historians to give him the epithet "hunchback".

Pepin died in 768 from unknown causes and was succeeded by his sons Charlemagne and Carloman. Although Pepin was unquestionably one of the most powerful and successful rulers of his time, his reign is largely overshadowed by that of his more famous son, Charlemagne.
Pepin of Italy. Pepin or Pippin (777 – 8 July 810) was King of Italy from 781 until his death in 810. Born Carloman, he was the third son of Charlemagne (his second by Queen Hildegard ). Carloman was renamed Pepin upon his baptism in 781, where he was also crowned as king of the Lombard Kingdom his father had conquered.
