Ludwig I or Louis I (German: Ludwig I.; 25 August 1786 – 29 February 1868) was King of Bavaria from 1825 until the 1848 revolutions in the German states. When he was crown prince, he was involved in the Napoleonic Wars. As king, he encouraged Bavaria's industrialization, initiating the Ludwig Canal between the rivers Main and the Danube.

Ludovico I di Baviera, qualche volta tradotto in italiano anche come Luigi I di Baviera, è stato un re di Baviera dal 1825 al 1848. In occasione dei festeggiamenti per il suo matrimonio con la principessa Teresa di Sassonia-Hildburghausen, si tenne il notissimo primo festival bavarese: l'Oktoberfest.
Biografia. Infanzia e giovinezza. Il principe ereditario Ludovico (sinistra) con la madre, regina Maria (nel centro), e il fratello minore Ottone (a destra) nel 1860 (Ottone diventerà Re dopo la morte di suo fratello maggiore, nel 1886, anche se non sarà mai capace di governare).
