Calzaghe had a record of 46-0 with 32 knockouts. Ranked No. 3 on The Ring Magazine's pound-for-pound list at the time of his retirement. Inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2014.
What ensued was one of the greatest pugilistic performances on British shores. Calzaghe boxed rings around his flummoxed opponent and posted a 12-round masterclass to claim the inaugural Ring 168-pound championship and Lacy’s IBF title. Suddenly, Calzaghe became hotter than hot and was much in demand.
