The House of Windsor is a British royal house, and currently the reigning house of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms. The royal house's name was inspired by the historic Windsor Castle estate.

28 giu 2017 · The House of Windsor came into being in 1917, when the name was adopted as the British Royal Family's official name by a proclamation of King George V, replacing the historic name of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. It remains the family name of the current Royal Family.
The House of Windsor only came into being in 1917, and over the course of the past 100 years or so, it has seen it all: war, constitutional crises, scandalous love affairs and messy divorces. However, it remains one of the enduring constants in modern British history, and the Royal Family today remain widely respected across the country.
