The Caucasian race (also Caucasoid, Europid, or Europoid) is an obsolete racial classification of humans based on a now-disproven theory of biological race.
At the federal level, race and ethnicity have been categorized separately. The most recent United States census recognized five racial categories ( White, Black, Native American / Alaska Native, Asian, and Native Hawaiian / Other Pacific Islander ), as well as people who belong to two or more of the racial categories.
In this paper, it is argued that Caucasian Americans have a distinct cultural or ethnic identity and that it is time for contemporary U.S. society to recognize Caucasian Americans as a valid and viable cultural group.
