Pontoise è una città nel dipartimento della Val-d'Oise, nella regione dell'Île-de-France, a circa 25 km a nord-ovest di Parigi. Il suo territorio di 7 km² confina con la riva destra dell'Oise che ne costituisce il limite "orientale", dominandone la confluenza con il Viosne.

Pontoise is the historical capital of the Vexin français. Its foundation dates from Roman times ( Pontisara ). At that time, the rock peak overhanging the river Oise supported the defense of the fort which was on the Roman road, the Chaussée Jules César, between Lutetia ( Paris) and Rotomagus ( Rouen ).

Pontoise is a town in the Val-d'Oise department, in the Île-de-France region, some 25 km northwest of Paris. Its territory of 7 km² borders the right bank of the Oise which constitutes its "eastern" limit, dominating its confluence with the Viosne. Pontoise is the capital of the natural region and the former province of French Vexin.

Pontoise, town, capital of Val-d’Oise département, Île-de-France région, north-central France. It is situated on the right bank of the Oise River, just northwest of Paris. In 1966 it became an episcopal see, and its cathedral, formerly Saint-Maclou Church, dates from the 12th century.
