Herman Achille, Count Van Rompuy (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɦɛrmɑɱ vɑn ˈrɔmpœy]; born 31 October 1947) is a Belgian politician, who served as the prime minister of Belgium from 2008 to 2009, and then as the first permanent president of the European Council from 2009 to 2014.
Herman Achille graaf Van Rompuy (Etterbeek, 31 oktober 1947) is een Belgische politicus van de christendemocratische partij CD&V. Hij was tussen 30 december 2008 en 25 november 2009 de premier van België en van 1 januari 2010 tot en met 30 november 2014 voorzitter van de Europese Raad, in de media vaak incorrect 'president van Europa' genoemd.
Herman Van Rompuy è stato il primo presidente del Consiglio europeo a tempo pieno. È stato eletto per la prima volta nel novembre 2009 e poi rieletto per un secondo mandato dal giugno 2012 al novembre 2014. È stato sostituito da Donald Tusk il 1º dicembre 2014.
