Jan Mul (20 September 1911 – 30 December 1971) was a Dutch composer, mainly of church music. He was born in Haarlem and studied with Sem Dresden at the Amsterdam Conservatory; Mul orchestrated Dresden's opera Francois Villon after the composer's death. Mul died at Overveen, aged 60.

Jan Mul (1911 – 1971) was a Dutch composer, born in Haarlem. He studied with Sem Dresden at the Amsterdam Conservatory. Jan Mul composed a lot of Church Music, including his Stabat Mater, hymns for the church, masses and a Te Deum (in 1936). He is also known for his Film Music for the Dutch Film maker Bert Haanstra (“Fanfare” in 1958).

Jan Mul ( 1911-1971) was een veelzijdig man. Eerst en vooral was hij musicus en componist van zowel geestelijke als wereldlijke muziek. Na de Tweede Wereldoorlog was hij niet weg te denken uit het Nederlandse muzickleven. Hij zat in talloze besturen en was bekend als muziekrecensent van de Volkskrant.

The film was entered into the 1959 Cannes Film Festival [2] and the 1st Moscow International Film Festival. [3] It was the most successful Dutch film at the time with over 2.6 million admission until surpassed by the 1973 film Turkish Delight.
