It is 85% for a pass 1 on a module. Bear in mind this requires an 85% average on assignments and 85% on the end of module exam. Perfect assignments and 84% on the exam gets you a pass 2. There are exceptions and a few percent leeway if grade boundaries are shifted or there were special circumstances.

They're different programmes, with different starting points, and different expectations. Just take the grading boundaries at the OU at face value. Grading is explained in detail in the Assessment Handbook. Generally speaking, the boundaries are: 85-100 / Pass 1 / Distinction. 70-84 / Pass 2 / Merit. 55-69 / Pass 3 / Pass.

Also, when you go to enrolment and do the register bit if you're applying for student finance England, put £0.00 in the pay now box they will ask you for your student finance England reference number.
I would never do an open university degrees course again. This is not sour grapes, the one poor mark did not affect my final result top much, i would have got 80% instead i got 78% for my final degree result. But it did sour my belief in fairness from open university. I consistently achieved 75-85% over my course and got 89% in a previous exam.

It depends when you drop out, so can be quite complicated. But if you drop out before the module starts or within 14 days of the module start date, you don't have to pay anything. If you drop out before December 31st for an October start date, you must pay 25% but can then use that 25% towards another module with the OU if you wish.
So you need to know what modules will count towards your grade and only input those. You also can't get a higher grade than you get for level 3. So to get a first overall, you need a pass 1 in at least one level 3 module, for a 2.1 you need a pass 2, and for a 2.2 you need a pass 3. My calculator won't include this.
