Frances Villiers, Countess of Jersey (née Twysden; 25 February 1753 – 23 July 1821) was a British courtier and Lady of the Bedchamber, one of the more notorious of the many mistresses of King George IV when he was Prince of Wales, "a scintillating society woman, a heady mix of charm, beauty, and sarcasm".
Frances was the daughter of Rev Philip Twysden, Bishop of Raphoe. An impeccable pedigree you might hazard – except the Right Reverend was allegedly shot dead while attempting a stagecoach robbery in London.

Era il figlio di George Villiers, IV conte di Jersey, e di sua moglie, Frances Twisden, figlia del Reverendo Philip Twisden, vescovo di Raphoe. Frequentò la Harrow School e al St John's College di Cambridge. È stato un Gentleman of the Bedchamber del Principe di Galles nel 1795.
22 feb 2020 · The elder, and more infamous, Lady Jersey was Frances Twysden, the posthumously born daughter of Rev.Philip Twysden, Bishop of Raphoe (1746–1752) who was allegedly shot while attempting to rob a stagecoach in London(!), and his second wife Frances Carter, daughter of Thomas Carter of Robertstown, Master of the Rolls.
