Ernst I. Anton Carl Ludwig von Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha (* 2. Januar 1784 in Coburg; † 29. Januar 1844 in Gotha) war ab 1806 Herzog von Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeld. Als erster Herzog des neu geschaffenen Doppelherzogtums Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha war er 1826 Begründer des gleichnamigen Fürstenhauses.

26 apr 2024 · The University of Erfurt has been welcoming young academics from various disciplines to its campus in Gotha for 20 years as part of its "Herzog Ernst Scholarship Programme". This year's "milestone birthday" will be celebrated with a small ceremony on Thursday, 16 May.
Ernst I., der Fromme (* 25. Dezember 1601 in Altenburg; † 26. März 1675 in Gotha) entstammte dem Weimarer Zweig der ernestinischen Wettiner und war seit 1640 Herzog von Sachsen-Gotha. Durch das Anheimfallen eines beträchtlichen Teils des Herzogtums Sachsen-Altenburg begründete er 1672 das Haus Sachsen-Gotha-Altenburg .

Juni 1818 als Sohn des Herzogs Ernst I. von Sachsen-Coburg in Coburg geboren. Er genoss eine vielseitige Erziehung und Bildung und studierte mit seinem Bruder Albert in Bonn.
