David Helfgott OAM (born 19 May 1947) is an Australian concert pianist whose life inspired the Academy Award-winning film Shine, in which he was portrayed by actors Geoffrey Rush, Noah Taylor and Alex Rafalowicz.
David met Gillian and within a year made a triumphant return to the world of classical piano. In 1996, Shine, inspired by David's life made a tremendous impact on audiences and his life. David has now toured more than 37 countries to world acclaim and enchanted audiences.
