8 nov 2023 · “Fever,” along with the album, A Woman Alone with the Blues, was Maria Muldaur’s musical tribute to Peggy Lee. When she was assigned to do a special project as a songwriter, it was shortly after Lee passed away on January 21, 2002.
This was my first exposure to Maria Muldaur (purchased via an amazon recommendation of all things) and I am hooked. She's got that smooth and sultry, smokey dimly-lit bar, blues-jazz singer voice and she puts it to good use. The first track -- Fever -- is the perfect start for this disc and sets the tone all the way through.
