Jerry Peloquin was the first drummer for Jefferson Airplane. Over the next few years he played with Paul Winter Consort, the New York Electric String Ensemble, Jose Feliciano, Tim Buckley, and Chad Mitchell.
25 lug 2023 · They started with a drummer named Jerry Peloquin, but he lasted about two weeks. And the guy they recruited next—Skip Spence—was really a guitar player. But Marty [Balin] insisted, “You’re gonna be our drummer.” So they bought him a set of drums and he picked up really fast.
The band was completed with the bassist Bob HARVEY and the drummer Jerry PELOQUIN. They started performing in small clubs and soon Peloquin and Harvey were fired and replaced by the drummer Skip SPENCE (later Moby Grape) and the bassist Jack CASADY, an excellent virtuoso known as one of the best rock bassists ever.
