Catherine, daughter of Sir Stephen Richard Glynne and Hon Mary Griffin was born at Hawarden Castle, Flintshire in 26 Jan 1812 Her father died when she was three and she and her sister Mary became very close friends even to having a 'double' wedding when she married William Ewart Gladstone in 1839 at Great Boughton, Cheshire, and they had eight children.
