This film does a really good job having romantic leads who are in their 40s, showing kink, and more specifically, BDSM, and having some non-binary child representation. I think my issue is it doesn’t really handle those things very well and it is really a conventional romantic comedy with some slight differences, that mostly fade away by the final act.

At worst, They/Them’s fixation on normative beauty risks reinforcing the heteronormative values it intends to slash in the first place.
