  1. Edward Winslow (1595 – May 8, 1655) traveled on the Mayflower in 1620 so he could practice his own religion which was not allowed in England. Winslow helped to organize the voyage to the New World and was a leader at Plymouth Colony .

  6. Edward Winslow also served as an early governor of Plymouth Colony, in addition to Carver and Bradford. He served three short nonconsecutive terms as governor in 1632, 1635, and 1644.

  7. Edward Winslow was among the 102 passengers, arriving on the shores of New England November 21, 1620. After losing his wife during the first winter, Winslow became the first groom of New England when he married Susannah White in 1622. He played an important role in the early years of Plymouth Colony.
