Alain Connes was born on 1 April 1947 in Draguignan, in the south of France. After attending secondary school in Marseille, he entered the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris in 1966.

Alain Connes (n. 1 aprilie 1947 , Lorgues , Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur , Franța ) este un matematician francez specializat în geometrie necomutativă și în teoria algebrelor Von Neumann . A fost laureat cu Medalia Fields în anul 1982 și cu Premiul Crafoord în 2001.
