24 mar 2023 · Following the death of Molly Cunliffe-Lister, the castle was occupied by the Lindley Educational Trust until 1998. In May 2000, Lord Marsham (now 4th Earl of Swinton), his mother, brother and sister bought back the castle and shortly after he moved to the property to set up the family business. Swinton Park opened as a luxury hotel in 2001.
