The Unknown DJ, nascido como Andre Manuel, é um dos pioneiros do West coast hip hop.Ele começou produzindo faixas de electro hop que foram lançadas sob seu próprio nome, entre elas "Basstronic", "808 Beats" e "Let's Jam".
Unknown DJ was one of the pioneers of L.A. rap both with his early singles and his record label Techno Hop which was responsible for many great releases. Although '808 Beats' generally gets more attention 'Let's Jam' was always my personal favourite, I remember being so happy when I finally got a copy of the 12" back in about 1990 a good 5 years after its release.
