And it represented the high level Type II tape from one of the worlds premier tape manufacturers. This tape was marketed as a top shelf in its class.
15 lug 2022 · Tapeheads was made in 1988 and is about the start of the music video genre and two slackers' efforts to break into the business. The negative reviews puzzled me. Anyone who could watch Josh and Ivan (slackers) (Tim Robbins and John Cusack) making a video of Cube Squared's "Baby Doll" and not laugh is missing a humor gene.

While it doesn't take away any hiss, frequencies are much better than on my other two decks, especially on lower end tape. TDK D, Maxell UR, and Fuji DR shine on this deck, great frequency response and dynamics, due to those Super GX heads ...

While it IS true that RTM SM911 is the closest modern equivalent to Ampex 456's parameters, RTM SM900 takes tape formulation a step further by adding about 3 db more dynamic range----it has about 1.5db more headroom and 1.5db less noise. IMNHO, it is the best reel-to-reel tape made. Aug 24, 2023. #5.

John said that it was quite possible to restore the head, recommended using a sanding film of different grits, pre-lubricated with oil. 16 lug 2011 · Serious Tapehead. The GX-95 is a great deck. Superb build quality and excellent sound. I have one. The thing to watch out for when buying one of these - or any Akai machine with motorised cassette door, is that it opens /closes the door / engages the heads with no issue.
