7 giu 2019 · Musically, songs like “It Doesn’t Matter Why” and “Straw Man” mark a back-to-basics approach for Silversun Pickups. Using strings and fuzzed-out guitars, the band wanted to distance themselves from the sleek electronic layering of 2015’s Better Nature and bring back the album-oriented rock of their first two albums, Carnavas and Swoon.

It seems that from the start, Silversun Pickups have had their eyes on making Widow’s Weeds a “return-to-roots” album. Those paying close attention took notice when the band parted ways with pop producer Jackknife Lee – who completed Neck of the Woods and Better Nature – in favor of Butch Vig, whose achievements include Nirvana’s Nevermind and Smashing Pumpkins’Gish.
