The John Bapst Memorial High School Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Mr. David Armistead will assume the position of John Bapst Head of School (HOS) commencing July 1, 2021. He will succeed Mr. Mel MacKay, who has led the school since 2007. Mr. Armistead has been in education for 30 years.

22 apr 2016 · John Bapst Memorial High School has been ranked the number one high school in northern New England, which includes Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, by The Washington Post in its 2016 annual High School Challenge. The Challenge is designed to reveal the level of a high school’s commitment to preparing the average student for college.
John Bapst Memorial High School works with students and their families to ensure an equitable, comfortable environment and a positive experience for all students. For transgender and gender-nonconforming students, the school follows Maine law and educational best practices in affording appropriate access to programs and facilities.
John Bapst has a robust Distinguished Graduates Program, where students pursue their passions in particular topics. They study extensively in school and extend their learning and experiences in those areas outside of class with special projects, while always mentored and supported by their faculty advisors.
