Lady Margaret Hall. LMH is one of the larger and (of course) best colleges. Founded in 1878, it was the first women’s college and also the first to go mixed. This inclusive spirit is still very much a defining feature of LMH. The college is incredibly proud of these roots, as well as the welcoming atmosphere that makes LMH so loved.
Lady Margaret Hall (LMH) has its main entrance on Norham Gardens. The College is spread over a large site with buildings of different ages and styles some of which are more accessible than others. Lady Margaret Hall was founded in 1878, the first of the Colleges for women at Oxford, and named after Lady Margaret Beaufort, mother of Henry VII and patroness of learning. In 1978 it became co-educational. The College accommodation is located in a variety of buildings from a diversity of periods, from late Victorian to the present day.
Library staff. LMH is staffed from 9 to 5 every weekday, with a break for lunch. Jamie Fishwick-Ford is the Librarian, in charge of acquisitions, external visitors, and overall management of the library.
