At present times, it operates from 9 am to 5 pm. And the registry office is closed on weekends. People visit the office to register birth, register death, and for numerous ceremonies.

Porridge is arguably the British comedy that was most successfully made into a film, partly because it is scripted by two of Britain's best comedy writers (Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais), partly because it features some of the best comedy talent Britain has ever produced, in the guise of Ronnie Barker and Richard Beckinsale.

Bought this to complete my Porridge collection. As film versions of a TV show it's not bad. Whoever designed the picture on the cover had obviously never seen the film or the programmes as nothing even remotely resembles anything in the film !!. I had to double check I had got the right film, and not something with the same title! 😸
