When Benjamin Franklin was born on 6 January 1706, in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America, his father, Josiah Franklin, was 49 and his mother, Abiah Folger, was 38. He married Deborah Read on 1 September 1730, in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, British Colonial America.

16 ott 2023 · Franklin was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1706 to Josiah Franklin and Abiah Folger. He was the 15th and youngest son of Josiah’s seventeen children. Franklin learned the printing trade while working for the weekly Boston newspaper, New England Courant. The paper was owned by his brother James.

Peter Folger’s daughter, Abiah, was the mother of Benjamin Franklin, and another family member, Maria Mitchell, was the first female astronomer in America. Henry Folger was the oldest of eight children.

Josiah was from Ecton, Northamptonshire, born on 23 December 1657, and he died on 16 January 1745. He had previously been married to Anne Child, who left him with seven children when she died on 9 July 1689.
