Elder daughter of Swarup Rani and Motilal Nehru. Diplomat and politician, she served as Ambassador to Soviet Union, 1947-49, and U.S.A., 1949-52. She was Member of Lok Sabha, 1952-54, 1964-68, and the first woman President of U.N. General Assembly, 1953-54.

Also, in the autobiography of Nehru (Toward Freedom) (archived text version of the book can be read here ), the parents’ names were given as ‘Pandit Motilal Nehru’ and ‘Swarup Rani Nehru’.
