The Port-au-Prince International Jazz Festival is a musical extravaganza, aiming to both promote Jazz in Haiti and to increase the understanding between Haitian and American cultures. Held for the first time in 2007, the festival features free concerts and workshops to educate visitors about music.
Monica Sorelle: Well, it’s a very long story. I’m of Haitian descent, born in based in Miami. I went away to Orlando, Florida for undergrad for film school. And when I came back in 2014, to Miami, I noticed a change in Little Haiti, which is a neighborhood that I spent a lot of time in as a child.

Working in collaboration with the Centre d’Art in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, the Fine Arts Center will present paintings by some of Haiti’s major 20th century artists.

26 lug 2023 · By Kim Ives, Haiti Liberté, July 26, 2023 Filmmaker, artist, and activist Katharine Kean, who founded the iconic Miami Beach Haitian restaurant “Tap Tap” in 1994 and was a close friend of former Haitian president Jean-Bertrand Aristide and his wife Mildred, peacefully passed away in her lower Manhattan home on the morning of Tue., Jul. 25 after a five year struggle with cancer.
