O’Hara (rjohara@post.harvard.edu) The College of St. Hild and St. Bede was formally constituted as a college of the University of Durham in 1979, although it traces its origin to two independent teacher-training colleges established in the nineteenth century: the College of the Venerable Bede (for men) and St. Hild’s College (for women).

  7. Bede Chapel and our Joachim Room: Our College has two Chapels – each associated with one of our founding Colleges of St Hild and St Bede. The Bede Chapel is a stunning, listed, Art Deco Chapel. It is in use as a place of worship and home to our Chapel Choir but also hosts music performances and rehearsals.
