Malcolm X (El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz) travelled to Cairo, Egypt in July of 1964 seeking to secure support for his campaign against racial discrimination in the U.S. from the African heads of state at the 2nd OAU Summit. Malcolm succeeded in getting a resolution passed with the support of the Tanzanian delegation to the Summit.
