Also interesting is grand-daughter Daisy who narrowly survives the incident. Wexford becomes fascinated by her and she is truly central to the plot. I like that Rendell's characters have their flaws. Despite her fame, it quickly becomes clear that Davina Flory was not an especially nice woman.
