30 gen 2023 · Ferdy Mayne wurde 1916 als Sohn eines deutschen Juden und einer Halbengländerin in Mainz geboren. Sein Vater war Richter, seine Mutter Gesangslehrerin. In den 1930ern wurde er als Jugendlicher nach England zu seiner Tante, der Fotografin und Bildhauerin Lee Hutchinson, geschickt, um ihn vor der Verfolgung durch die Nationalsozialisten zu schützen.

Fredy Mayne se narodil v Mainzu (česky Mohuč) do německo-anglické rodiny. Jeho tatínek byl čistokrevný Němec a maminka z poloviny Angličanka a Němka. Ovšem kvůli tomu, že rodina byla židovská a blížila se Druhá světová válka, poslali mladého Ferdyho do Anglie. Rodiče bohužel zemřeli v koncentračním taboře v Buchenwaldu.
