Over halfway through THE GRAND DUKE OF CORSICA, I began to realize that if any film in the past ten years has felt nearer to Greenaway-lite, I don't know what it is. CORSICA has lovingly shot scenes, yet often is simply dressed well. It seems mysterious and simultaneously thumbs its nose at the viewer (especially in the first act).
